NorthWords NWT is now accepting nominations for the 2023 Book Awards, in the adult and youth categories.
Entries for this prize are books that meet the following requirements: A novel, children’s book, collection of short stories, poetry or essays, creative non-fiction or memoir that is written by an author who has a strong connection to the Northwest Territories and was published in 2022.
In order to be eligible for the award, an author must have a strong connection to the NWT. This can include having been raised and schooled in the NWt and maintaining strong ties, have at least five years where they lived in the NWT, or are currently living in the NWT for at least one year so far prior to the release of their book.
Submissions must be received by NorthWords NWT no later than January 31st, 2024. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges and announced at the 2024 Writer’s Festival in June.
In addition to receiving official NorthWords NWT book prize stickers to attach to the winning piece of work, authors will also receive a cheque for $1,000.
