Most South Slave fires “under control or being monitored” as crews continue mopping up hotspots

Low temperatures and wet conditions continue in the South Slave as fire season winds down in the region.

According to NWT Fire, winds are consistent from the North-Northwest reaching speeds between 15 and 30km/h. No rain is forecasted; however, officials say the cool, damp conditions and cloud cover is keeping fire activity low.

As a result, crews continue mopping up, dealing with hotspots, and providing support to the Hamlet of Enterprise as dryer conditions are expected later in the week.

NWT Fire has not provided an update on the recent blaze that crept into the territory from Alberta; however, officials say “all other active fires are under control or being monitored” in the South Slave.
