Local groups and organizations have a chance to receive up to $75,000 through the Field Law Community Fund.
In the past, this Fund has been awarded to 128 different individuals, organizations and charitable initiatives throughout Alberta and the Northwest Territories. Participants can either be individuals, groups or organizations. Both registered and non-registered charities are eligible to participate. Participants in the Program must, if an individual, be residents of Canada to participate in the Program and reside in a Community Market.
A previous recipient of the Field Law Community Fund in the NWT was the Food First Foundation, which shared healthy nutrition information to schools in eight northern communities, and made sure that at least 1,800 students had an apple included as a healthy item in their lunches.
In order to apply for the Fund, participants need to lay out the details of their idea, who it will benefit, and how it will affect their community. Participants must also explain how the money awarded will be used, as well as the budget of the project, what the project is expected to cost, and the estimated timeline for how long the project will last.
