Early in the morning on August 2nd, Behchoko RCMP responded to the site of a single vehicle accident along Highway 3.
The call came in around 7:30 a.m. When police arrived, personnel from ENR, Wildland Fire and a paramedic were providing first aid to the sole male occupant of the vehicle.
YK Fire and EMS used the Jaws of Life to get the man out of the vehicle. Despite these courageous efforts, the 76-year-old male driver was declared deceased while en route to the Stanton hospital.
The Behchoko RCMP, including a trained accident reconstructionist, and the Office of the Chief Coroner are investigating the incident.
