The City of Yellowknife has shared several traffic related reminders with residents.
First, from July 8th to the 17th, the city will be going through its annual Traffic Signal Maintenance Program. During this time, temporary interruptions to traffic signals may occur. Drivers are advised to follow any temporary traffic controls that are in place in the affected areas.
Next, the City is looking into passing a new by-law to open and name roads within Phase 2 of the Engle Business District as Eagle Drive and Goshawk Road. The Council of the City of Yellowknife will hear any person claiming to be affected by the by-law who wishes to be heard at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 24, 2023 in the City Hall Council Chamber.
Finally, with several construction projects taking place throughout the city, drivers are being reminded to obey posted signs, respect speed zones and drive attentively. When driving through a construction zone, speeding fines are doubled. Plan ahead when commuting as traffic delays can be expected.
