GNWT Looking for Public Feedback on Economic Planning

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) is engaging NWT residents online and in person to inform the development of Economic Development Plans (REDPs) for each region.

NWT residents are invited to complete a public survey on the GNWT’s Have Your Say engagement platform where they will find a discussion paper as well as economic profiles and data for their respective regions. The deadline to provide input is January 31, 2023.

In-person public engagements are also being scheduled in regional centres across the NWT. Check online for updated scheduling.

In addition to ongoing public engagments, Regional Economic Development Plans will be built on input received through targeted engagments with Indigenous governments, Indigenous organizations, as well as industry as and businesses representatives.

Completed plans will offer leaders and communities a tool to address challenges and capitalize on regional strengths as they work with the GNWT to advance economic growth and diversification in their communities.

The completion of regional economic development plans will help meet the GNWT’s mandate to increase economic diversification by supporting growth in non-extractive sectors and setting regional diversification targets.
