Various Drugs Seized in Fort Providence Police Search

On Friday, February 4, Fort Providence RCMP seized illegal alcohol, drugs and tobacco from a residence in the community.

An ongoing investigation, utilizing information from multiple sources in the community, has resulted in the successful seizure of significant amounts of contraband being sold in Fort Providence. With the help of Fort Simpson and Behchoko RCMP, members executed a search warrant on a local residence and seized 1.3 lbs of cannabis, 7.7 ounces of a substance believed to be Hash, 69 bottles of alcohol and 4600 cigarettes. Additional items seized included cell phones, computers, scales and other evidence that supported contraband sales.

Charged for offences under the Cannabis Act, GNWT Liquor Act, Criminal Code and Excise Act, is 68 year old Patrick Mazerolle of Fort Providence. Court date is set for first appearance in Fort Providence May 5.
