Almost one third of NWT adults have been fully vaccinated

The GNWT says as of March 8th, 11,151 residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, almost one third of the 34,400 adults in the NWT.

Deline, Tulita, Tuktoyaktuk, Fort Providence, Fort Simpson, Fort Smith, Behchoko, Fort Resolution, Fort Liard and Norman Wells were the communities that were most recently vaccinated.

Eligible residents in Inuvik and Fort Good Hope are expected to be fully vaccinated by the end of this week.

Clinics are ongoing in Hay River for all eligible residents and in Yellowknife for priority populations, which have recently been expanded.

So far, 17,057 first doses have been delivered to NWT residents, up almost 2,000 from this time last week.

The timeline for full herd immunity (75 per cent fully vaccinated) in the NWT is still on track for late April.

There is currently one active case of COVID-19 in the territory, belonging to an NWT resident.

Since the territory’s first case of COVID-19 back on March 20th of last year, there have been 74 total confirmed cases, with 47 of them being NWT residents.
