NTPC workers vote to strike

With an incoming Northern Workers strike looming, the Northwest Territories Power Corporation employees have voted to strike.

A total of 91% of the employees voted in favour. They say they are fighting for better wages, an increase on their ‘Northern Allowance’ bonus, as well as better job security.

Our members have spoken, they are not happy and The Power Corporation needs to realize that their offer is just not acceptable by our members,” said Todd Parsons, President of the Union of Northern Workers. “We remain optimistic that the employer will come back to the table, and provide a fair and reasonable offer.

CJCD has contacted the NTPC for further detail, but it is confirmed that a worker stoppage will not effect the service provided by the Power Corporation.
