Four people were helicoptered to hospital Saturday night after a minivan ran into a semi-tractor trailer on Highway 1 at kilometer 292 near Fort Providence.
Police say poor visibility from heavy blowing slow appears to have been a major factor in the minivan striking the trailer from behind, though the accident is still under investigation.
The driver of the minivan sustained non-life threatening injuries and had to be extracted from the car by fire and emergency personnel.
The vehicle’s three other occupants sustained minor injuries, and all four people were transported by helicopter to Stanton Territorial Hospital from the scene.
The driver of the trailer was unharmed.
Alcohol or drug use does not appear to have been a factor.
