Violent sexual offender to be released Friday in Yellowknife

Updated 11:25 Friday, August 19. Violent sexual offender Travis Menacho will be released from Yellowknife’s jail on Friday, prompting a warning from RCMP.

The 27-year-old is being released from the North Slave Correctional Centre following previous convictions for sexual assault, sexual interference and failing to comply with a recognizance.

Police want to advise the public, especially those living in Tulita, that Menacho is a violent sexual offender who poses a ‘significant risk to the public’.

Consequently, he will be on probation for three years and will be required to follow strict conditions including restrictions on any activity that involves contact with children under the age of 16.

Menacho is described as an aboriginal male that stands 5ft 7in tall and weighs approximately 120 lbs with brown eyes and black hair.
