Yellowknife residents were left in the dark Tuesday night following what appeared to be a city-wide power outage.
Behchoko was also affected, according to the Northwest Territories Power Corporation (NTPC).
Power went out in Yellowknife shortly before 5:30pm, with customers affected from Old Town to uptown. Crews and electricians with the power corporation worked to restore affected areas one at a time.
Within two hours, power was fully restored in both Yellowknife and Behchoko.
It’s not yet clear what caused the outage, however NTPC warned that high winds could cause downed power lines and outages.
Lots of wind out there tonight. Flapping wires and trees can cause outages. Please be careful.
