Deline RCMP Seize Drugs and Alcohol at Airport

The Deline RCMP were able to intercept a considerable amount of drugs and alcohol before it was able to enter the community.

On March 26th, officers were notified that two people were attempting to bring in the contraband. Officers conducted an investigation and were able to apprehend the material as it touched down on a plane landing at the community.

As they were conducting their search at the airport, they discovered a third individual who was on court mandated orders to remain in Yellowknfie. This individual was immediately arrested, and officers were able to find 113 grams of crack cocaine and 13 grams of what is suspected to be Gabapentin.

36-year-old John Minoza of Fort Providence, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and failure to comply with conditions of a release order. He remains in custody and is awaiting a day in court.

The alcohol was seized by the RCMP, though it has lead to no charges being laid at this time.

Anyone who has additional information on this matter is asked to contact the Deline RCMP at 867-589-1111.
