Gameti R.C.M.P conduct multiple liquor seizures in community

Yellowknife, NWT – Gameti R.C.M.P say they continue to disrupt the flow of alcohol within the community, and have reported a number of seizures and charges relating to the possession of alcohol there this month.

On Jul. 31, Mounties say they responded to a disturbance at a residence where an intoxicated 44-year-old man and 35-year-old woman were charged with unlawful possession of alcohol.

Two weeks later, on Aug. 15, Gameti R.C.M.P say they seized 17 bottles of vodka and 4 cans of beer at the community airport where a 29-year-old man was charged with unlawful possession of alcohol.

Two days later, on Aug. 17, Mounties in the community say an additional 10 bottles of vodka were confiscated at a residence after authorities were notified of a house party.

The community of Gameti has strict alcohol restrictions under the Gameti Liquor Prohibition Regulations.

It is an offence to purchase, sell, transport or possess liquor within the prohibited area.
