Two Yellowknifers win vehicles days apart during car giveaway

Apparently it’s a good time to buy a car in Yellowknife.

Twice this week, a Yellowknife resident has won a free vehicle thanks to Go Auto’s Car-a-Day Giveaway.

From October 12 to November 10, anyone who buys a vehicle from one of Go Auto’s 39 dealerships is automatically entered into a draw to win the vehicle for free.

30 vehicles will be given out over the course of the promotion. Entrants are told they have a 1-in-125 chance of winning.

Go Auto operates both Yellowknife Chrysler and Yellowknife Ford.

On Monday, Yellowknife Chrysler gave away a 2014 Dodge Ram to Adam Chartrand. Two days later, Craig Thomas won a 2016 Ford Explorer from Yellowknife Ford – formerly known as Kingland Ford.

“I think my husband and I were both pretty stunned,” said Cheryl Thomas.

“For some reason I just had this really strong feeling that we were going to win – maybe it was just wishful thinking – but I kept telling my husband we were going to win.

“But when it actually happened I was stunned and pretty excited.”

The Thomas’ found out they had won their brand new vehicle on Wednesday after purchasing it the day prior.

“We got word [Wednesday] morning that they were the winners,” said Jayson Weber, finance manager at Yellowknife Ford.

“So we organized for them to come back in over their lunch breaks to come see a scratch on the vehicle. We had it all set up at the shop and went to show them.

“There, we had a big reveal with balloons and streamers and they realized they had won it.”

Yellowknife Chrysler, meanwhile, revealed Chartrand as a winner in a video that was uploaded by Go Auto.
