Construction company fined in Bluefish hydro dam accident

Yellowknife, NWT – Representatives from North American Construction have pleaded guilty to charges under the Northwest Territories Safety Act.

That’s according to the Workers Safety and Compensation Commission of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

Representatives from the construction company appeared in Yellowknife Territorial Court on Friday, where they pleaded guilty for not providing a safe means of access to a working level of scaffolding during construction of the Bluefish Replacement Dam.

The company was sentenced to a fine of $70,000 plus a 15% Victim of Crime Surcharge.

They were given 60 days to pay the fine.
