Nominations for the November 23 territorial election are now open.
The NWT’s 17th legislative assembly was officially dissolved yesterday.
Candidates for MLA must be over 18, a Canadian citizen and a resident of the NWT for the past year.
The nomination period for prospective candidates is open from today until Friday, October 30 at 2:00pm. Candidates will then have until 5:00pm that same day to withdraw their application.
Of the territory’s 19 electoral districts, seven are in Yellowknife and two are in Hay River.
Two Yellowknife MLAs from the last assembly – Wendy Bisaro and Bob Bromley – will not be seeking re-election.
Meanwhile, 18 others – including seven incumbents – have confirmed their intentions to run in Yellowknife or Hay River either directly to Moose FM or through press releases.
