Two women charged over weed in Tulita coffee maker

It’s not your average coffee pot.

Trouble is brewing for two women after police found seven parcels of weed packed inside a coffee maker at Tulita’s airport.

Yellowknife resident Jasmine Vogt, 22, is charged with trafficking in a controlled substance. Tulita’s Jory Mackeinzo, 23, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking. Both are out of custody and will appear in court at a later date.

According to police, the drugs were found inside a package at the airport on September 14.

“Drug use is a concern in the community of Tulita,” said RCMP in a statement at the time. “RCMP are aware of attempts to smuggle illicit substances into town using boats and airplanes.

“Police will continue enforcement in all areas of transportation in which illicit drugs make their way into the community.”
