Yellowknife’s Fieldhouse resumes regular hours after serving as reception centre

Yellowknife, NWT – The city of Yellowknife says the Fieldhouse has resumed regular hours as of 4 Thursday afternoon after serving as a reception centre for residents along Highway 3 who were asked to voluntarily evacuate their homes Wednesday night amid concerns of increased forest fire smoke.

The city says it chose the Fieldhouse because it has kitchen, shower and toilet facilities and an emergency generator.

Cots were also set up on one of the fields for anyone who has to spend one or more nights at the facility.
