Woman, 42, charged over Yellowknife TD Bank robbery

Police have charged a 42-year-old woman with robbing a downtown Yellowknife bank on Tuesday.

Shortly before 11am, police allege Debbie Ailanak – originally from Ulukhaktok – told staff at TD Bank she had a gun, then demanded money.

RCMP say Ailanak fled the YK Centre mall on foot after a sum of money was handed over to her. Police say they found her on nearby 50th Street roughly an hour later, without a gun in her possession.

Ailanak is due in court on Thursday. She faces a charge of robbery and an additional charge of breaching an undertaking.
