Executive Director: 34th annual Folk on the Rocks a resounding success

Yellowknife, NWT – The 34th annual Folk on the Rocks has come and gone and the festival’s volunteer coordinator says it went off without a hitch thanks to hundreds of volunteers.

Mackenzie Zouboules says as many as 440 volunteers helped out over the course of the weekend.

“I’m really happy because a lot of volunteers came up to me afterwards and said they had no idea the festival would be anything like it was. The volunteer program is starting to evolve in a way that people are looking at it as a different way to see the festival so I’d like to give a huge shout out to all the team captains.”

This was David Whitelock’s first year working as the festival’s Executive Director.

“Our artists were delighted not just with the experience of the festival but the experiences they had with people from our community. Some of them spend time getting to know the community and that makes it so much more special. We know we have a special place here and I’m so glad that the community embraced the artists the way they did.”

Whitelock says there were no hiccups whatsoever over the course of the weekend, and he looks forward to making next year’s Folk on the Rocks even better.
