Flu clinics open across territory with Covid vaccines available on request

N.W.T.’s Health and Social Services Authority is hosting various flu vaccination clinics across the territory. This week, clinics are open in Behchokǫ̀ and Whati,  with many of the clinics scheduled to open in Yellowknife next week.

In Whati, a clinic will be held between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Therese Jeremick’ca Health Centre where walk-ins are also available.

In Behchokǫ̀, a clinic will be held tomorrow (Oct. 18) at the Northern Store.

A full schedule of clinics can be found on the health and social services website.

In an announcement issued this morning, the health authority added that COVID-19 vaccinations will also be available at all clinics upon request.

The authority announced that a number of clinics open in Yellowknife next week including:

Seniors Clinic – Open to Public (Baker Community Centre)

A clinic will be held at the Baker Community Centre on Friday, Oct. 24 between 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The clinic is intended for seniors who are 65 years old and up with walk-ins available. Anyone accompanying a senior to their appointment “will not be turned away” for a vaccine, according to the announcement issued today by the health authority on behalf of the clinic.

Family Friendly Clinic (Multiplex, DND Gym)

In partnership with the Yellowknife Playgroup Association, a clinic will be held at the Multiplex in the DND Gymnasium on Saturday, Oct. 25 between 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
“This clinic is open to families who have at least one child aged five and under. The Yellowknife Playgroup Association will provide toys, activities, snacks, and refreshments for children during this time.”

Pop-up Clinic (Yellowknife Co-op)

A pop-up clinic at the Yellowknife Co-op on Sunday, Oct. 26 between 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Residents who visit Co-op during this time and who are unable to attend another clinic can receive their flu vaccination at this clinic.

Community Walk-in Clinics (Centre Square Mall, Lower Level)

The authority said community walk-in clinics will be available on the lower level of Centre Square Mall during the following times:

Oct. 28-30: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Oct. 31: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Nov. 1: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Nov. 4-7: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Nov. 8: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The authority added that anyone who is unable to attend a clinic and would still like to receive their vaccination can reach out to the Yellowknife Public Health at (867) 767-9120 and book an appointment after Nov.11

Anyone who would like more information about flu clinic services in the N.W.T. or how to book an appointment with your regional health centre, is asked to visit www.nthssa.ca/flu where information is being added and changed daily

The health authority said that anyone who would like more information can also call 811 to speak with a registered nurse. More information and recommendations for vaccinations are also available at www.hss.gov.nt.ca/en/services/immunization-vaccination and through local public health clinic and health centres.

The Annual Great Ptarmi Hunt returns to Yellowknife this weekend
