The RCMP announced that they have been made aware of a communications outage affecting some telephone communications.
“The full-scope of this outage is not known at this time however Northwestel is aware of the problem,” said officials today in an announcement this afternoon.
Police received reports of some phone calls not reaching detachments but said that 911 services appear to be functioning.
“In the event the public requires non-emergency service and regular phone numbers are not working, proceed directly to your local detachment,” said officials.
Police ask the public to contact police using 911 for an emergency only. For other matters, if police cannot be reached by phone, RCMP ask the public to proceed directly to their local detachment.
