G.N.W.T to release daily forest fire updates

Yellowknife, NWT – Environment and Natural Resources officials say there are as many as 177 active forest fires burning throughout the Northwest Territories, 76 of which are in the North Slave region.

According to E.N.R’s website, three fires within 40 kilometers were started by lightning Wednesday but all were attacked and put out.

Officials also say the Ingraham Trail and day use areas remain open after a successful burnout operation was conducted in the Reid Lake area on Wednesday.
