A boater is missing after leaving Talston Bay yesterday morning

A boater has gone missing after leaving Talston Bay yesterday morning. Officers said that according to reports received, the man was headed towards Fort Resolution.

“On September 3rd, at 5:23 p.m., Fort Resolution RCMP received a report of a male who had left Taltson Bay on boat at approximately 10:00 a.m. that day, with plans to travel towards Fort Resolution,” said police.

According to witnesses, the 35-year-old man, from Fort Resolution, was “intoxicated” and “without a personal flotation” device when he departed.

Fort Resolution RCMP have begun a search and rescue operation, which remains ongoing. 

“Efforts to locate the missing man include an aerial search by the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association. The Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, Canadian Rangers and community members aboard local vessels are also assisting to locate the overdue boater,” said officials.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
