City of Yellowknife has Emergency Plan in place if forest fires worsen

Yellowknife, NWT – The City of Yellowknife says it has been informed by its Emergency Measures partners in the G.N.W.T that the city is not at risk from a number of fires in the area, but an Emergency Plan is in place should that change.

The city says it has such a plan for any type of natural or man-made emergency.

In the event that the forest fire season worsens and the city is put in any danger, the emergency plan will be activated.

In doing so, partner agencies like the R.C.M.P and necessary G.N.W.T Departments will assist to develop the safest and most effective solution.

The city continues to get updates from partners involved in forest fire activities on a regular basis and will disseminate them as soon as they become available.
