Sex offender Keyuajuk, released on Thursday, back in custody

Violent sex offender Jonah Keyuajuk is once again in Yellowknife police custody.

The 44-year-old was the subject of a police warning, issued in late August, about his presence in the city. RCMP called him a “violent sexual offender” who posed “a significant risk” to the community.

Shortly after issuing that warning, police arrested Keyuajuk for breaching his release conditions. He was then released once more on Thursday, September 17.

Now, police say they have again arrested Keyuajuk for a further breach. Last week, a judge had warned that Keyuajuk could face a two-year jail sentence if any more breaches came to pass.

Keyuajuk was due in court today. He has, in the past, been convicted of aggravated sexual assault, assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.
