Northwestel warns of potential disruption to service due to forest fire

Yellowknife, NWT – Northwestel says technicians are monitoring a wildfire between Fort Providence and Behchoko that could pose a threat to the company’s fibre equipment in the area.

Should the wildfire continue to progress, Yellowknife customers may experience a disruption to Internet and cellular services.

Northwestel says all above-ground equipment has been marked and covered in fire retardant, sand and gravel.

Their technicians have also been briefed on the need to comply with fire crew instructions and are being placed on standby in order to respond to any cut once it is safe to do so.
