NWT Fab Four hit gold, silver and bronze in summer games today

N.W.T. athletes picked up a string of medals each, continuing winning streaks in swimming and track and field competitions at the Special Olympics Summer Games in Alta. The four athletes from N.W.T. who attended the games this weekend scored a slew of victories in the competitions.

Grayson Klein won multiple medals in track and field competitions, picking up a silver medal in shotput along with a bronze medal in the 400m.

Joshua Boudreau is also having an impressive run, scoring a silver medal in the 3000-meter, a bronze in the 1500-meter and 800-meter track competitions today.

When it comes to being so sucessful as an Olympic athlete, Boudreau recently told True North FM it’s all about determination and hard work.

“If you want to do well, just train hard, and keep at it,” he said.

The star athlete’s advice continues to pave the way to victory among a stellar group of colleagues.

Head coach Jennifer Waterhouse told True North FM that more experienced athletes like Boudreau and Makaro were great mentors for Wedawin and Klein, who were competing for the first time at this level.

Chelsey Makaro and Marcus Wedawin continued a winning streak begun yesterday.

Makaro struck gold in the 100-meter backstroke, the 100-meter freestyle and the 50-meter backstroke, along with a bronze in the 50-meter freestyle.

Wedawin picked up multiple medals again today, winning a gold in the 100-meter backstroke, another gold in the 50-meter free swim, a silver in the 100-meter freestyle swim and a bronze in the 100-meter backstroke.
