Yellowknife Co-op Confirms Name Change to Lakeshore Co-operative

Following a meeting of local members, the Yellowknife Co-op has agreed to an official change of their name.

What was previously known as “Yellowknife Direct Charge Co-operative Limited” will now have that name changed to “Lakeshore Co-operative Limited.” This follows the announcement that the Super A Foods was acquired by the Co-operative and will be converted into a new Co-op location. While the name has been agreed upon by the Co-operative, it still needs to be submitted to the territorial registry to make it final.

In the announcement of the name change, Mark Needham, the President of the Co-operative, said that this change serves to reflect their efforts to maintain the co-operative model and “enhance the benefits available to our members.”

“We appreciate the trust and support of our Members as we embrace this next phase. Our Co-op is stronger together, and we look forward to growing with you under the Lakeshore Co-operative Limited name.”

Needham added that there will be no change to how the Co-operative operates their various services and locations.
