Yellowknife RCMP charge eight following three drug busts

Eight people are facing charges following three separate drugs busts in Yellowknife on Tuesday.

All but one are from the city, according to police.

Early Tuesday, separate searches took place at two residences in the city. A third search warrant was executed in the afternoon at a residence in Range Lake.

Police seized cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, cash and firearms during the raids.

The total amount of cocaine seized has not yet been determined, though RCMP say more than 100 individually packaged rocks of cocaine were taken.

Police also haven’t calculated how much money was seized, but estimate that it amounts to tens of thousands of dollars.

Of the firearms seized, RCMP say three are stolen property – obtained during a recent break-in in the city.
