Homeowner repair program now accepting applications

Housing NWT is now accepting applications for the homeowner repair program until Oct. 31. 

“Applications for single-intake homeowner repair programs are now open!” Housing NWT announced yesterday.  

Housing NWT is accepting applications from April 1 until Oct. 31 for the following single-intake homeowner repair programs: 
 
Seniors Aging in Place – up to $15,000 available for minor repairs for senior homeowners  
 
Seniors Home Repair – up to $50,000 available for major home repairs for senior homeowners 
 
Preventative Maintenance – up to $5,000 available for maintenance and minor repairs 
 
Mobility Modifications – up to $50,000 available for accessibility improvements

Housing NWT asks anyone who is interested in applying to contact their district office by phone. Contact information for the district offices is available on Housing NWT’s website: https://www.nwthc.gov.nt.ca/en/district-offices

Housing NWT said program advisors will be travelling to communities to meet with residents who are interested in applying for these homeowner programs. 

Anyone interested in scheduling an appointment with a program advisor is asked to contact their local district office.

As of April 2 some dates have been scheduled for Hay River and Fort Smith: 

Hay River 

  • April 2-4, 2025 
  • April 23-30, 2025 

Fort Smith 

  • April 8-11, 2025 
  • May 1-2, 2025 
  • May 12-13, 2025 

Housing NWT said that approved requests for repairs would take place beginning April 2026.
