The AVENS Seniors Community in Yellowknife will soon be holding a special awards ceremony to help honour their most dedicated employees.

The event is known as the GEMS (Going the Extra Mile for Seniors) Awards, and will be highlighting the efforts and commitment of the facility staff. The event is being held on March 31st from 1:30 tp 3:00 at the Barb Bromley Administration Building.

In addition to the usual GEMS award, this event will also be presenting the Helping Hand Award, which goes out to the most dedicated volunteers, and will be introducing the GEMS Get Smart Award, which will be going out to the employees who have demonstrated an outstanding level of personal growth through their online and classroom learning sessions. Finally, AVENS will also be presenting the Residents’ Choice Award, which is voted on by the residents of the facility.

Daryl Dolynny, the President and CEO of AVENS, said that he and the rest of the management team are proud of the talents and dedication of the staff. “The introduction of the GEMS Get Smart Award underscores our commitment to fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. It highlights the importance of personal growth in enhancing the quality of care we provide.

“Our GEMS awards not only recognize outstanding employees through our GEMS Shining Star Award, but they also reflect the invaluable contributions of our volunteers, through our GEMS Helping Hands Award and the heartfelt appreciation from our residents, via the Resident’s Choice Awards, forming the very foundation of our exceptional care culture for the past 41 years.”
