Territorial election: Register to vote or check the list online

If you want to register to vote in this fall’s territorial election – or simply check that you’re already registered – you can now do it online.

Elections NWT’s website features two new tools for prospective voters.

The first is an interactive voter lookup, allowing you to make sure your name has been registered to vote in the territorial election. You enter your name and address, and the site tells you whether or not you’re on the list.

If you aren’t on the list or you’re new to the territory, the second tool allows you to register online by providing your details. Note that you can only register to vote if you’re a Canadian citizen – full voter eligibility details can be found here.

You can register to vote online up till November 4, although it’s also possible to register on person on polling day – November 23. If you require an absentee ballot, you can apply for one from October 12. Click here for other key dates.

The Elections NWT website and voter registration form apply only to the territorial election, not the municipal or federal elections.

By the way, it’s not too late to become a candidate
