Hay River R.C.M.P investigate death of woman near community

Yellowknife, NWT – Hay River R.C.M.P continue to investigate the death of a 32-year-old woman in between Hay River and West Channel.

Police say her body was found on a public beach last Friday.

The Mounties haven’t released her name, but a media report identifies her as Charmaine Corrigal.

We asked R.C.M.P Sergeant Barry Ledoux with the Yellowknife detachment where the investigation goes from here.

“We’ll wait for results from the post-mortem examination and then from there we’ll determine a course of action. If it’s nothing suspicious the file will be concluded and we’ll go from there.”

Ledoux says a cause of death is unknown at this time.

He says Hay River R.C.M.P were assisted by G Division Major Crimes Unit.

Anyone with information in relation to this investigation is encouraged to contact Hay River R.C.M.P or Crime Stoppers.
