UPDATE: Second Home Invasion Suspect Apprehended

A second individual has now been charged by the Fort McPherson RCMP as part of an investigation into a recent Break and Enter.

Initially reported on October 17th, a home invasion took place in the community of Fort McPherson on the 16th. Police initially arrested and charged a single individual, but a second person has been determined to have been involved in the incident. They have also received multiple charges.

Fort McPherson resident Abraham Stewart has been charged with:

  • Two counts of Breaking and Entering
  • Failure to comply with Undertaking Conditions
  • Two counts of Robbery,
  • Mischief under $5,000
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Two counts of Forcible Confinement, and
  • Flight from a Peace Officer

Stewart has not yet been arrested and remains at large. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

The RCMP is asking anyone who knows of his whereabouts to not approach him, and contact the detachment at 952-1111.

The previous suspect, Nathan Francis, appeared before a Justice of the Peace on October 18th. He has been released on conditions to not return to Fort McPherson, and is awaiting a further court appearance on November 26th.

UPDATE: Stewart was located and taken into custody on the morning of Thursday, October 24th. Stewart appeared before a Justice of the Peace later that day. The RCMP have expressed their thanks to everyone who assisted in locating the suspect.

GNWT apologizes for 2022 raid of Lutselk’e cultural camp
