N.W.T Student Financial Assistance Program improves online presence

Yellowknife, NWT – The N.W.T Student Financial Assistance Program has taken strides to improve communication with northern residents.

That’s according to the G.N.W.T’s Department of Education, Culture and Employment.

In a news release, E.C.E Minister Jackson Lafferty says the department has updated its website and social media accounts to provide better services to prospective and current students.

The online tools are designed to communicate the latest program information and encourage discussion about available funding.

Jolene Saturnino is director of Income Security Programs with E.C.E.

She says the updates are also designed to benefit northern employers.

“We’re engaging with other organizations and employers and encouraging them to contact us with their employment and scholarship opportunities so that we can advertise for free on their behalf and get that information out to our students.”

Saturnino says the department wants to ensure it’s transparent and accessible, and allow students the opportunity to converse with them.
