The city of Yellowknife has imposed an open-air burning ban with immediate effect.
“Due to the extremely dry conditions, an immediate mandatory open burning ban has been placed into effect for the City of Yellowknife until further notice, “said a city statement.
The ban includes the use of approved fire pits within the city.
This is the third time this year the city has implemented such a ban. The previous two lasted nine and four days respectively.
At the time of writing, no precipitation is being forecast in the region over the next seven days.
