Man breaks into Yellowknife home, demands money and drugs

Police are trying to trace a man who broke into a downtown Yellowknife home on Sunday morning.

A resident on 47th Street, woken by a noise just after 2am, found a male stranger standing in their kitchen.

In a statement, RCMP say “the male suspect showed a weapon to the resident and asked for money and drugs”. When the resident claimed to have neither, the man left. The resident was not injured.

“The Yellowknife RCMP General Investigation Section is conducting the investigation with the cooperation of the RCMP forensic identification section, and police dog services,” said police. The suspect remains unidentified.

If you can help police with the investigation, contact Yellowknife RCMP (867-669-1111) or Crimestoppers (1-800-222-8477).
