Yellowknife Golf Club Open for the Season

The Yellowknife Golf Club is once again open for the season.

A staple of the community since 1948, the Clubhouse and supply shop have both been fully stocked and are ready for players to take to the course.

Kylie Fredrick, one of the operators of the Club, shared that there has already been a handful of eager golfers making their way to the course to get some early swings in.

“The driving range isn’t quite open yet, the golf course is open, and for the Pro Shop we have fully stocked merchandise, memberships available. All of the tournaments and theme nights should be getting going soon, and the calendar is on our website if people want to take a look and see what’s happening this summer.”

Yellowknife’s Golf course has a few special qualities that make it one of the more unique courses in all of Canada, as Kylie explained.

“Our greens and our tee boxes are astroturf, our fairways are sand, and we have waterfall mats that we take with us when we play and we put our ball on the mat and hit it off that in the fairway.”

Kylie admits that the mats can take some getting used to for new players, but reassures that it ends up being just as fun as conventional golf.

Memberships are available for those who wish to join the club, and Kylie herself offers instructional lessons for new golfers.
