Aurora College Suspending General Studies Program until 2025

Aurora College recently announced that they will be suspending the launch of their new General Studies Diploma program by one year, until Fall of 2025.

This decision was made by the College’s Board of Governors in order to make sure that all approvals and agreements are in place before the course begins. The idea is that this will allow applicants to be fully aware of the kind of course they are taking, what credentials they will receive, and how the diploma will help them in the future.

The General Studies Diploma will be a two-year program that will allow students to fulfill the third-year requirements to get into a Bachelor of Education, as well as a Bachelor of Social work. It can also help students to obtain the credits needed for an Aurora College degree.

Aurora College has explained that developing a new course like this requires extensive steps and approval processes, which can take some time. The NWT has some specific steps that must be taken, such as Quality Assurance Reviews by both the Campus Alberta Quality Council and the Department of Education, Culture and Employment.

The college has been able to reach out to all applicants for this program to discuss alternate plans and options.
