Behchoko RCMP Intercept Drugs heading for Yellowknife

Behchoko RCMP recently seized a number of drugs while conducting a traffic stop over the weekend.

On March 22nd, Behchoko officers patrolling Highway 3 pulled over a vehicle that was making its way towards Yellowknife. During the stop, officers found reason to arrest the occupants and search their vehicle, discovering 217 grams of crack-cocaine. The also found cash and other drug paraphernalia items.

32-year-old Kyle Mantla and 34-year-old Andrew Adzin, both from BehchokÇ«̀€, have been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Anyone who has additional information about drug trafficking in Behchoko is asked to call the local RCMP at 867-392-1111.

Yellowknife Community Foundation to deliver its biggest batch of scholarships

The Yellowknife Community Foundation has cracked the door wide open on its student awards scholarships fund. The foundation says its scholarship fund is delivering 45 scholarships, its greatest number of scholarships to date, to support students in trade professions and academics across the territory. N.W.T. students pursuing post-secondary studies or a trades education in any field are eligible for scholarships worth up to $9, 500, with a total of 45 scholarships are being offered.
