Yellowknife RCMP Arrest Wanted Man near Hay River

Yellowknife RCMP have just arrested a man for an assault after a brief search period.

On March 21st, around 9:30pm, Yellowknife officers were called to a residence where they found a victim suffering from a number of injuries. Officers were told that 34-year-old Jeremy Charney was responsible, and was in possession of a handgun. The gun was not used in the initial assault.

Charney apparently fled the scene in a black Ford f-150, and was briefly on the run from police. It was suspected that he was planning to make his way south and into Alberta.

Charney has since been arrested near Hay River.

Police are still investigating this matter, and are welcoming any information about the incident or Charney at 669-1111.
