Another three people with ties to 856 gang arrested in Yellowknife

Three more people with suspected ties to the 856 gang have been arrested in Yellowknife, including 20-year-old Yellowknife resident Dennis Foster.

Police announced the charges Friday night. All three individuals were arrested during a traffic stop in the city late Thursday.

Their arrests occurred on the same day police executed two search warrants in the city which produced another four arrests.

Of the seven total arrests Thursday, RCMP say charges have been laid against six people. All of them are from British Columbia except for Foster.

Charges range from possession for the purpose of trafficking to possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Altogether, police seized 126 grams of crack cocaine, 28 MDMA pills and a significant amount of anabolic steroids during Thursday’s search warrants.

RCMP say approximately half of the crack cocaine seized had been “pre-packaged and prepared in a manner consistent with drug trafficking.”

All six individuals have been remanded to custody and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
