Upwards of $1500 worth of recycling stolen from S.P.C.A

Yellowknife, NWT – The N.W.T Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals says as much as $1500 worth of their recycling was stolen over the weekend.

Nicole Spencer, president of the N.W.T  S.P.C.A, says they found out earlier Monday.

“We have a lot in Kam Lake that’s owned by someone who allows us to store any donated recycling from other companies or people. This recycling was left over from last year and we discovered Monday morning that it was gone.”

As a non-profit organization, Spencer says the theft is equivalent to taking money directly from their bank account.

She says the funds could have been used for anything from medical fees to running heat, water and lighting at the shelter.

Spencer says the S.P.C.A will be filing a complaint with the R.C.M.P.
