Yellowknife, NWT – The Yellowknife Public School Board’s Board of Trustees has received a final report from its Facilities Committee.
The advisory group was tasked with examining the long-term directions for District programming and facility use.
The Board says eight recommendations have been provided to them, including the direction of facility and grade configurations depending on how many elementary schools Yk1 operates in the coming years.
Yk1 Chair John Stephenson explains where the board goes from here.
“Nothing is planned for this school year coming up so it’s business as usual starting in September and for the rest of this coming school year. In the fall, the board will be providing further input on the report from parents, staff and other interested stakeholders.”
Stephenson says if one of the recommendations is approved, adjustments to operations could send grades from one school to another and even see one of the board’s elementary schools close.
