UPDATE: Suspicious Yellowknife Death Determined to be Homicide

Yellowknife RCMP are currently investigating a sudden and suspicious death that occurred within the city early on Saturday morning.

On November 25th, at 2:57 a.m. the Yellowknife RCMP were called to attend a residence on 47 Street after receiving a report of a person who was laying on the ground. RCMP attended and located an unresponsive man who was determined to be deceased by EMS.

Anyone who has information about this incident is asked to contact the Yellowknife RCMP at 669-1111.

UPDATE: Police investigation has determined that the person who died was the victim of a homicide.

This incident remains under investigation. The Northwest Territories RCMP Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Section continue to lead the investigation. The RCMP are asking anyone who may have been in the area of Hilltop Apartments between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 am, and heard or saw anything suspicious, to contact police.

Investigators do not believe that the homicide is linked to the firearms complaint that occurred near the same location.

GNWT says 3 more school buildings show elevated lead in water

The territorial government says another three school sites showed elevated levels of lead in drinking water after testing earlier this month. With 32 tested school results announced to date, 26 have tested positive for elevated levels of lead in some of their drinking water fixtures.
