Performers Needed for 2024 Snowking Festival!

With the Snowking festival once again coming up in March of 2024, the group behind the event is calling for performers to come and fill their lineup.

Like any other annual event, the many dedicated volunteers with Snowking keep looking for new ways to bring the community together with their incredible creation. One of the group’s members, Sir Slush, described the castle in a wonderful way for any newcomers to the city who may not be familiar with the event.

“Basically, we build a castle out of snow and ice on Great Slave Lake, right on the houseboat bay area, and we’ll just have it set up for kids to run through and really explore winter play at the festival. We’ll also program it with a lot of local arts and culture, as well as a few southern performers. We just make it like a nice little community hall for people to express their creative side in the winter, which is always really fun.”

Still in the planning stages at the moment, Snowking and his crew are currently looking for performers and acts to put on their stage, as Sir Slush explained.

“The sky is the limit, to be honest. We’re always looking for comedians, musicians of course, street performers! If you do a bit of clowning around on the side, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Maybe you’re an actual carver and want to get more into that, we’re always looking for help that way. There’s a lot of ways to take part in the castle.”

Sir Slush added that there are no real limitations on what kinds of performances can try out for the castle, as long as they have a clear idea. The application deadline is approaching fast however. Applications must be sent in by November 10th at midnight. A “Performers” tab can be found on the official Snowking website, where the application page can be found.

Sir Slush also added that they are still looking for snow carvers to take part in the International Snowcarving Symposium.
