A public funeral service is being planned for Dene Chief Edward Sangris, who passed away earlier this week.
Public visitation will be available from 10am to 12 Noon at Saint Patrick’s Co-Cathedral in Yellowknife on Monday, November 6th. Afterwards, there will be a burial at the Dettah Cemetery.
Chief Eddie was a longtime leader in the Yellowknives Dene First Nation community, and helped them make great progress towards self sufficiency. He was also a strong and steady leader during the recent wildfires, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
