Aurora College offers two tuition bursaries worth up to $5,400

Aurora College has announced they are offering two new tuition bursaries for the 2023-24 academic year. 

In partnership with the Heritage Foundation, the First Year Entrance Bursary is open to two full-time students entering Occupations/University and College Access Programs (OCAP/UCAP), Certificate Programs, first year Diploma Programs or first year of Degree Programs. 

The Persistence Bursary is open to two full-time students continuing into a second or subsequent year of a diploma or degree program, or transitioning from an OCAP/UCAP program into a parent program. 

According to Aurora College, the value of the bursary is between $3,600 and $5,400, depending on the recipient’s program. 

Applicants will be required to submit a letter of interest, a 2 year transcript as proof of previous education in the NWT, and income verification. Applicants can apply online on the college’s website.

Feds, GNWT say affordable, accessible housing in works for Northerners

Inuvik’s Blueberry patch will be the site of much needed affordable and accessible housing units. Plans for the new social housing development include 40 units. Monique M. LaPlante, with Canada Mortgage and Housing, reported that the common areas will be barrier free, and 35 per cent of units will be accessible. Minister Rebecca Alty and Minister Lucy Kuptana reported the new housing project was launched as part of a $19 million collaboration between the federal and territorial government.
